As I walked down the undulated path
Tripping on broken stones
My parched throat
Searching for water
Beads of sweat trickled down my back
My head spinning in the heat
In the sunlight bright
As darkness engulfed me
I gripped the air for support
A mirage in the distance
The welcoming cool of a summer afternoon breeze
I broke into a run
As it faded into the distance
Tears streaming down my face
Don’t go away
Don’t go away
